Below is a sampling of Artist Series bikes I worked on at Electra. All of these bikes were my brainchild, brought to the greater Electra creative team for collaboration and constructive criticism. The bike is a large canvas in theory, but the technical aspects of the individual pieces cannot be overlooked. It's a delicate balance to figure out how each individual touchpoint will work on its own, and also when the bike is viewed as a whole unit. The design process involved concepting, illustration, application to the bike, selecting paint colors, working with factories, and approving samples for final production.

head in the clouds

Head in the Clouds highlights the natural beauty of a perfect, dreamy sky behind billowing cumulus clouds. The soft pastel gradient on the frame fades from blue to purple to bright white, setting a picturesque sunset across the sky. Painted lavender rims with intermittent clouds complete this dream-like bike. This was a more stripped down Artist Series application, since it was applied to a higher price point e-bike.

zelda

Zelda draws inspiration from the roaring 1920s – complete with a pearlescent champagne frame, leather handlebar tassels, and all the shades of glitter you could ever want. The crisp, clean geometric design is straight out of the Art Deco handbook, with a new modern twist. Just in time for the roaring 2020s.

joann

Joanne is inspired by a day spent picnicking in the park - complete with wine, coffee, and of course: a furry companion. The dusty pink is accented by neutral tans and creams, with a pop of deep blue for contrast.

ghostrider

The Ghostrider™ Go! is inspired by the world's first "superbike" motorcycle – the notorious Vincent Black Shadow, famous for its power and speed. A hydroformed frame, ultra-gloss black and chrome polish finishes, custom badges and license plate seamlessly combine retro style with modern e-bike technology.

honeycomb

Honeycomb is a comprehensive study of bright, sunny, springtime days. We've got golden sunflowers and a hand-illustrated hexagon pattern complementing the blue metallic fade. Busy bees buzz throughout the frame, but they're probably just drawn by the yellow rims and ooey-gooey honey-dripping matching bell. And, of course – custom hex pattern embossed on the saddle and grips.

kids' artist series bikes

Artist Series bikes for kids are a miniature application of the same attention to detail as the adult size. They are, expectedly, even more fun to design.

firetail

Firetail is friendly and fearsome, with dragons flying among the clouds in and out of the deep metallic red frame. Blue, red, black, white, and gold/yellow all represent different elements in ancient Chinese mythology and complement the strength and richness of these dragons.

sunshimmer

Sunshimmer is a new appreciation for rainy weather. Beautiful, glittery rainbows appear from behind clouds and lightning, and the sun always finds a way to peak through. The white frame is overlaid with transparent shimmer stars to really add some spark to this tiny silver lining of a bike.

graffiti drip

Graffiti Drip is a new take on street art. Bright, electric paint colors drip throughout the frame, with touchpoints like a custom bell, embossed paint drip saddle, and custom logotype on the chainguard.

under the sea

Under The Sea is a deep dive into the world of color and creature under the ocean’s surface. The deep metallic blue contrasts with the bright animals floating around the bike’s frame.
